A simply sensational performance as we blew OJ away 19-0. Ryan became the first player to hit double figures in a single game as he claimed 10, Aron chipped in with 5 of his own, while debutant Yossi Gitlin, standing in for the unavailable Yaakov, grabbed 4.
Sruli gained his first clean sheet, ably assisted by a classy performance from Darren and Gary. Every time we had the ball we looked dangerous, and some of the interplay between our players was breathtaking, with OJ just not able to cope.
Yossi opened the scoring in the first minute after Darren had superbly got himself out of a tight situation on his own byline and it was one-way traffic from there. Yossi hit the bar and Ryan was forcing saves from the OJ goalkeeper, so it was no surprise when Ryan got on the scoresheet, first from a corner and then from Aron intercepting an OJ throw-out to find him.
Gary was getting further forward, as was Darren with some great movement on the ball opening up space for him and the pressure from the front was paying off, with another interception, this time from a throw-in, to make it 4-0 from Aron.
Perhaps the best goal of the night came from Yossi running past 4 players as if they were not there, and he then cut inside to make space again moments later to get his hat-trick. Uriel came on to make his debut, and minutes later Aron was granted the freedom of the OJ half, and Yossi then made it 8-0 at half-time.
The second half continued where the first had ended as we then ran riot. Ryan looked like he could score every time he had the ball, and added goal after goal, with Aron also able to claim a further three goals. There were also some great team goals, as we passed the ball in neat little triangles.
Update:
Unfortunately, OJ have decided to withdraw from the league, as they have really been struggling. They felt that they were not being competitive and there was little point in continuing. They have made a formal apology to all teams and in particular to Ryan, as of course all their results have now been expunged.
This does mean that, disappointingly, we drop to second in the table, 2 points behind Whitefield.
